Simply spending the whole summer sunbathing around your local outdoor pool or lake is neither good for your skin, nor your grey matter. This summer, BIKINI BERLIN is offering the perfect alternative: with Warenart, Haus am Waldsee, the Gorilla Gallery and a marble run by Walter Mason, the concept shopping mall in the heart of the City West is currently playing host to four artistic attractions.
GORILLA GALLERY
According to Lush, perfume is art. Reason enough for the cosmetics company to organise a free, interactive exhibition to celebrate every new Gorilla Perfume collection. All guests are invited to immerse themselves in the fragrances and experience the stories behind them with installations, films and photography. Until 12 August, the meanwhile IV volume of the Gorilla Gallery exhibition can also be viewed for the first time in Germany; in the Positions Art Gallery at BIKINI BERLIN, which regularly curates selected exhibitions within the space. The current collection is inspired by and created in close cooperation with Texan artist Hal Samples. Forming the basis of this were his portraits of the homeless or forgotten souls of society, who he presents in an authentic way. His pictures and videos are also being shown in the exhibition. The artist will also be in attendance to chat and answer any questions about his work.

WARENART
Former US President Barack Obama is a huge fan of the artworks by the Magpie Art Collective. These and other artworks are currently on show in the pop-up exhibition by Warenart at BIKINI BERLIN. The artist collective from South Africa is renowned for its functional lighting and interior items made from old pieces of jewellery, toys and plastic bottles. Art-enthusiastic visitors to the concept shopping mall can come and admire the shop window exhibition on the rooftop terrace until 29 September 2017. As the opening times are sporadic, you are recommended to contact Warenart prior to your visit by calling +49 (0)172 68 53 448.

HAUS AM WALDSEE
On 15 July 2017, the Haus am Waldsee moved into BIKINI BERLIN for a whole year. Due to extensive renovation work being done to its original home in Berlin-Zehlendorf, the exhibition venue is being recreated as a museum shop in Bikini Berlin. The art institution mainly presents contemporary artists who have also gained international renown. Exhibitions, readings, artist talks and other cultural highlights will be taking place on the second floor of BIKINI BERLIN, such as the artist talk with Christiane Seiffert on 25 August at 6:30 pm. Admission is free for all guests.
On show from 12 September are works by Japanese artist Takehito Koganezawa, who works with the mediums of drawing and video.

MARBLE RUN
Younger visitors will also be in their element during BIKINI BERLIN’s summer of art, all thanks to the marble run by Berlin inventor Walter Mason. Until 20 August, visitors to the mall can collect one of the marbles for free from the info point and then send it on a wild journey from the first floor. On their way back down to the ground floor, the marbles will roll down from a dizzying height through a course of sweeping curves and steep sections.
