Double the Berlin coolness: Esther Perbandt meets BIKINI BERLIN

Two Berlin originals, born and raised in West Berlin, are now working hand in hand for Berlin Fashion Week 2022. Right on time for Berlin Fashion Week, a stylish and functional Phone Purse is being launched as part of the design collaboration between Berlin designer Esther Perbandt and BIKINI BERLIN.

 

Every year the concept shopping mall joins forces with a creative talent to design a unique collectable item as part of its BIKINI BERLIN ‘Collectables’ campaign. This year it was possible to get influential avantgarde artist and designer Esther Perbandt on board for a special collaboration. Something that the multimedia artist has in common with BIKINI BERLIN is her strong ties with the German capital, as well as the courage to break out of traditional patterns and venture off the beaten path.

Esther Perbandt’s fashion designs are non-binary, post-feminist, mainly black and authentically and effortlessly embody the Berlin mindset. Just like the Phone Purse, which the designer originally designed to carry her own phone behind the scenes of one of her legendary fashion shows. And now, as part of this year’s cooperation with BIKINI BERLIN, it is now finally going into production and available to purchase as a limited-edition Collectable coinciding with Berlin Fashion Week.

With the Collectable Phone Purse, your mobile phone will just be an arm’s length away and become a part of your outfit. Made of black leather in typical Esther Perbandt style, the phone case is attached to a chunky black strap adorned with large black teak beads. In combination with the large metal carabiners, the natural materials in black exude an avant-garde brutalist feel and are elegant yet minimalistic at the same time. Its card slots on the back are another practical touch, enabling you to keep essential items like your ID or bank card close and safe, making the cross-body not only an ideal everyday companion, but also the ultimate going-out accessory.

BIKINI BERLIN and Esther Perbandt are also dedicating an artistic installation in the concept shopping mall’s atrium to the cool ‘it’ piece. Very much in the designer’s look and feel, the individual components of the purse have been showcased in XXL format, making it possible for visitors to the mall to immerse themselves in the designer’s world –experience it for yourself until 16 April.

As part of the installation, the Phone Purse itself will also be on display. Limited quantities are available to purchase from Esther Perbandt’s online shop from 14 March 2022 for 119 euros.
