See the light at BIKINI BERLIN

In spring 2018, the concept shopping mall is wowing visitors for the third time with a unique installation. Berlin-based glass artist Camilla Richter is presenting “Light Catching Shadows” and transforming the space in front of the panoramic window on the ground floor into a sea of light from 23 March until 28 April 2018.

A kind of folding screen made up of coloured and dichroic glass segments – also known as colour effect glass – is being set up on a white floor pedestal. The angled screen has a height of two metres and a width of up to six metres. BIKINI BERLIN visitors can experience the installation up close and take photos between the colourful glass panes, or simply admire the extraordinary interplay of colours.

Hanging on the ceiling are another seven elements made of laminated and dichroic glass, which is backlit and in part also moved by motors to perfectly capture the light. This enables visitors to experience a 360° composition of light and colours, which is not possible with normal panes of glass. If you can’t get enough and are inspired to get creative yourself, you will also have the opportunity to decorate the large panoramic window at BIKINI BERLIN with colourful peel-off stickers.

About Camilla Richter

The artist studied product design at the Berlin University of the Arts. It was during her degree that she discovered her passion for glass and began experimenting with light effects. Her most well-known works include the folding screen “And A And Be And Not”, which was also nominated for the Innovation Award during IMM Cologne. Another focus of Camilla Richter’s work is colourful glass mobiles that enable you to immerse your own four walls in unique colours and shadows.
