BIKINI BERLIN COLLACTABLES 2022: Phone Purse designed by Esther Perbandt

For its ‘Collectables’ cooperation, BIKINI BERLIN is delighted to have avant-garde German designer Esther Perbandt on board this year. Every year the concept shopping mall joins forces with a creative talent to design a unique collectable item. The result of this year’s cooperation is the iconic Phone Purse, which will be available to purchase from 14 March 2022, coinciding with Berlin Fashion Week, and is only available in limited numbers – as long as stocks last. BIKINI BERLIN customers can purchase the latest Collectable for 119 euros from Esther Perbandt’s online store.

Esther Perbandt is following on from William Fan, who designed the previous two successful timeless classics – the BIKINI BERLIN Birthday Bag (2019), followed by the Key Wallet (2021), which references the Birthday Bag’s minimalistic and urban design.

Something that the successful designer shares with BIKINI BERLIN is a strong bond with the city of Berlin. This common ground is also reflected in the edgy design of the Phone Purse, which is made from chrome-free tanned leather and has a fancy cord with large handmade teak beads. Large metal carabiners further underline the casual look of the small purse, while the soft leather and the black give it an air of elegance – the perfect style combo, whether for everyday wear or business meetings. The small black purse can be worn across the body. Card slots on the back of the accessory are another practical touch, enabling you to keep essential items like your ID or bank card close and safe.

“I actually made precisely this purse for one of my fashion shows many years ago because I needed to keep a close eye on my mobile phone timer so I could send the models down the runway at just the right second. But I also needed to ensure that my hands were free because I was still making last-minute adjustments to the outfits. Ever since then, people have been asking me about my Phone Purse on a daily basis! This cooperation with BIKINI BERLIN means that I can now finally produce this unique piece and make a lot more people happy,” says fashion designer Esther Perbandt about the purse’s creation process.

In March 2022, visitors to the event space on the ground floor will be able to admire an installation presenting the stylish Phone Purse. Here, the individual components of the cool accessory will be interpreted in an oversized format and showcased on different pedestals. In the freely accessible installation, black ropes will be stretched from the ceiling to the floor, as a nod to the cords of the Phone Purse, and XXL spheres will represent the purse’s playful beads. All of this will allow visitors to immerse themselves in the world of designer Esther Perbandt and to soak up the casual and elegant lifestyle that she aims to convey with this cool ‘it’ piece.
